First Class, Wednesday 8/25

WASH was my first college credit course I've ever taken, and it was much better than I was expecting. My cousins filled my head with nightmare scenarios, but I actually had a lot of fun in my first class.

We were expected to keep a cinderblock of the ground, using nothing but old newspaper, and tape. Though it at first sounded like a daunting task, it was really very easy.

I, for example, simply rolled a part of the paper up longways, and then slipped tighter, thicker papers that were rolled up sideways inside the long rolls, to act as braces. Each long roll had two braces inside of it. I then taped four long rolls together to make a pillar, and even out the lengths small folded pieces of paper, and then wrapped the whole thing in one more sheet of paper. I covered almost the entire length in tape, and then wrapped two small rolls along the base to add width, and something to lean on, if the pillar tilted.

My project worked the first time, and stood at 21 in. .......But, alas, when the teacher tested all of our projects, mine fell over...

I went for the simplest design I could, but I really liked the other, more artistic, and probably better designed, projects some people had.

After that, we had a short lecture, and were then dismissed. I'm thinking that if all my classes are as enjoyable as this one in the future, this semester will be really fun, as far as work goes. =]

( I'll start posting pictures on my blogs once I either a) figure out how to send pics to my email or b) find that darned cable that links my camera to my computer i lost three years ago... )
